 What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced RAY-Key) means "Universal Life Force Energy" and is a Japanses system of energy healing and relaxtion therapy. When applied it addresses the body, mind and spirit as a whole. It accelerates the body’s natural ability to heal physical ailments, release stress and anxiety, and open the mind and spirit to the causes of disease and pain. Essentially Reiki brings the body into balance so it can heal itself.

What to expect in a session:

Receiving Reiki is a simple process and can produce profound effects. The session begins with a client laying on a massage table, fully clothed, listening to gentle, soothing music, which helps to promote a state of deep relaxation. The Reiki practitioner will gently rest their hands upon you, non-intrusively, in a series of intuitive positions based on each client's personal needs.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of focused concentration, the kind many of us experience on a daily basis.  When you are relaxed and your concentration is so strong that you do not hear outside noises or notice other stimuli, you are in a light hypnotic state.  Most of us enter hypnotic states every day, when we are so absorbed in a book or movie that we don’t notice someone calling our name, when we get so lost in thought while driving until we “snap out of it” a few minutes later, or any other time we have been on “autopilot.”

William J. Bryan, the founder of the American Institute of Hypnosis, writes that the hypnotic state produces 3 things, “(1) an increased concentration of the mind, and (2) and increased relaxation of the body, and (3) an increased susceptibility to suggestion.”

Because the subconscious mind becomes open and suggestible during this state of relaxed and focused concentration, we are able to help the mind discard longstanding but unproductive thought patterns and bring in new, more productive thoughts and behaviors in their place.

Demystifying hypnosis

Many people have heard of the great results accomplished through hypnosis and wonder if it could also be helpful to them.  Many people are hesitant, though, to explore what hypnosis can do for them because of misinformation acquired over the years from movies and television.  Hypnosis can evoke a sense of mystery, of losing control or being forced to do things against your will.

In fact, hypnosis is exactly the opposite.  During hypnosis, you hear and are aware of everything that is taking place.  You have complete control over what you will do and will not do. Even after being brought out of hypnosis, you will be able to recall everything that took place during the session.

How can hypnosis help me?

Hypnosis helps ordinary people with ordinary problems.  Hypnotists help clients tap the power of their subconscious mind to overcome challenges. You can use hypnosis to . . .

*Lose weight
*Reduce stress
*Quit smoking
*Sleep better
*Overcome fears, like public speaking or flying
*Prepare for surgery
*Increase self-confidence
*Improve memory
*Break habits, like nail-biting
*Increase concentration
*Improve athletic performance
*and more . . .
